SUMMARY:LLMs\, AI Hallucinations and Liability Risks – A Closer Look at four Use-Cases in Companies
DESCRIPTION:Sounds smart but might be total fiction—this is the problem of AI hallucinations in a nutshell. While developers of generative AI\, in particular Large Language Models (LLMs)\, are working to make their models more reliable\, the problem persists\, sometimes making even the most obvious mistakes. Meanwhile\, quality and reliability are two central pillars of the philosophy of many German SMEs (Mittelstand). So\, why use a technology that cannot be fully trusted? And what are the legal risks in using it\, anyways? \nOftentimes\, legal uncertainty and bureaucracy layers on top of other challenges and may blur important strategic decisions (and maybe also the vision for new technologies). In this talk\, Kai Ebert will analyse four use-cases for AI in companies to give a clear understanding of the legal framework and liability risks involved in implementing AI in companies—and how to deal with them. \n\nUsing LLMs for online research and office work.\nUsing LLMs for coding.\nUsing LLMs in customer service.\nUsing agents to automate entire workflows.\n\nAfter the talk there will also be time for questions and discussions. Throughout the event\, there will be snacks and drinks provided. \nKai Ebert is a PhD researcher at European University Viadrina\, where he serves as an assistant to Prof. Dr. Philipp Hacker\, LL.M. (Yale). Kai’s research focuses on the regulation of artificial intelligence\, with a particular emphasis on data protection\, private law\, and sustainability of AI. Kai studied law at the Universities of Munich and Seoul. During his legal education\, he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich and co-founded the Munich Legal Tech Student Association\, where he continues to serve as an advisor. Before joining Prof. Hacker at Viadrina\, Kai worked for a large international law firm and clerked at the German Federal Chancellery in Berlin. \nCome and join us for this talk!
